New expos unit is in!!!
« on: May 17, 2012, 08:28:08 AM »
Got it working Monday.  Would have been running on Saturday except for a stupid fuse holder.  The 1K watt light unit we used to have exposed screens in about 5-7 minutes depending on the age of the bulb.  This unit exposes them in around 20-30 seconds...2 at a time.  Needless to say, we shaved some serious time of exposures.  Sorry for the strange color...I have yellow lights in the dark room and it messed with the camera colors.  Also, I probably need to finish the drywall project in there and repaint.

that's sweet. You can shoot an entire days worth of screens in the time it took to do one!  someday I'll get me something fancy with buttons and such. used?

yup, $1500.

What is great is you hit the start button, vacuum starts, then the bulb, and then it all turns off and read EC, so you know if you've exposed the screen already.

My printer was telling me to start selling pre-exposed screens because we can do them so fast now.  Don't really want to get into that mess.

i would get a "blanket" of fabric to use as a barrier between screen and suck down blanket...that is way dirty...that will break the blanket down faster...easier to throw away 3 bucks worth of fabric than buy a new neoprene blanket

Sweet!!!! yeah Sam got in my butt about our blanket being dirty, so now I used a black clothe over the screens, so the new blanket now still looks new.  20 to 30 seconds burns wow that will save some time I,m still at 2 to 5 mintues.

I believe it's just the frame/glass size.

Nice score--That's a hell of a deal.  I'd give you 1550 for it.   ;)

I keep a couple 3XT black shirts around--they cover a standard M3 just right.

I believe there's a lot of differences on the overall combinations between exposure units and emulsion and probably a few other variables.

I'm just a little guy with a 6 bulb UV vacuum unit  (Lumitron Workhorse) and I expose all day long (QTX or CTR) at 30 seconds.

my blankets don't get that dirty, we actually clean our frames.  I did a restretch job a few years back with GM and they called me to tell me how clean my frames were.  I should be able to grab a screen and not get ink on my hands...period.  Same goes for buckets and ink knives.
