New manual press

I also picked up a new/used manual press last week.  We had a 6/4 and it was never used for more than 1 color anymore, so I ditched it and went single color for printing sleeves and pockets if needed.

Got a good deal on it and I had most of the lumber to toss together a table for the base so it's a win/win.

similar thinking here . . . we picked one up a while back, but have not set it up yet. The Rototex makes a nice shelf to put stuff on around the press and hang the shirts and coats on!!!

Not as far fetched as it sounds.
I think that there are systems out there that only hold one screen at a time, but are capable of doing multi color prints due to a quick change system.

I know I described visiting a quite large local place (closed now) that had about 3 stations where the platen was a plexiglass box with a light bulb inside and they printed multiple colors one at a time, fully curing each one and running back around using the light bulb for lineup.  They claimed it was more efficient. 

I didn't say so to their face, but even as I was on a start-up with a POS press, I thought it was stupid.  Wonder if that contributed to them going out of business.

"light table" boards are great for small run multicolor transfer work! The translucent paper is perfect for that.

Thats right Andy.....except the best use of that method is as a sample press. Screens kept in a rolling rack and are pre-registered. This was before the Chameleon but when perfected worked just as well, cost a crap ton less, and saved a lot space. Faster also.

I did get some bracket adapters from Spot Color Supply that will allow any M&R platen to bolt to this press.  1 set of platens...a lot less work.

Also, when I ordered platens for the auto, i ordered 1 extra in case we baked one under the flash unit.  I wouldn't have to stop production, I could just pop the new one on and fix the burnt one.  That platen now has a home.

yup, got it used and the paint is still shiny on it.  I seriously doubt it's seen 200 prints.

i bought an anatol table top but its a 4 color and a guy i know built me a steel table to mount it to.  I like the table tops for what there for, dont use it often though.  if anybody needs one I know the lady I got mine from still has another brand new one in the crate.

I took an old four color manual apart one time basically removed everything except for the table carasoul put a piece of round cut plywood on top and we used it next to the auto as a lazy Susan for stacked shirts, you could load three stacks at a time and simply spin the carasoul when one stack ran out. We didn't have room for it in our newer place tho.
