Do you make clients sign waivers?
« on: May 13, 2012, 11:31:11 PM »
We have a client that is adamant on printing on the American Apparel 50/50 tees, but is 100% deadset on using discharge and waterbased ink. We've advised the client that this is not the smartest idea, but he wants to do it.

I'm thinking about making him sign a waiver, in the event that there is dye migration, which will happen.

what would you guys do?

I actually have samples of discharge on 100% cotton and 50/50 for them to see the difference. The discharge on 50/50 I have sold quite a few times because it really gives a nice effect especially on black garments.

Our client wants to do a three colored discharge print on a Neon Yellow tee, brown, blue, white. I'm cofortable doing either a discharge brown/blue print on the tee, but the white is the real hang up for me.

In the past i've done a white waterbased over white discharge that wasn't going to look right (i.e. discharge white on a red tee).

any thoughts?

Maybe they need to pay for a preproduction sample?

Yes, but as with some neon pinks I just ran, the original color should return after they cool down.

I will always print what they want but with a signed approval. It may turn out fine, it may not. As long as you warn them you will be covered. Hopefully you will not loose the client but you have to protect yourself first.

Red does it to me also and I promise a red T can scorch.

Someone posted a while back the brands in order of best to worst name brands to discharge. I can't find it.
Can someone repost that please.

I have a couple discharge samples like Prosperi-Tees does, but I make sure they know they get what it turns out to be like.
I'm not even sure if I could match a same job reprint in different types of weather and humidity.

really i'm just worried that it'll come out fine on some, and that it'll be weird on others, especially if the dye job is inconsistent!

Just get all the info you can and do the best you can...but as far as every shirt being the same...I just can't guarantee that and I tell them so.
