Has anyone ever had this issue with their dryer: I noticed last night my belt is not running smooth anymore unless I speed it up...I have it set to go slow but it just started skipping.....as I sped up the belt the skipping went away.

I haven't looked into it yet..I just noticed it last night and plan to address it this weekend.

Anyway, if anyone had this probelm before how did you fix it?

I would say it's the potentiometer, the dial you turn to speed it up. You may need to take it out, hit it with the air compressor, clean it up a bit. . or buy a new one, they can be found cheap.
...keep doing what you're doing, you'll only get what you've got...

what kind of dryer? It might be easier to get answers as somebody might have a similar one.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

Do you mean the motor is skipping or just the belt on the rollers? Dumb question I know

Check Belt Tension
Check Alligator Clip And Wire Protruding From Clip
Check Drive Chain/DriveBelt Tension, Inspect Chain / Belt For Wear
Check Drive Sprocket / Pulley Alignment, Set Screws
Check Drive Motor Mounting Bolts
Check Roller Bearing Set Screws To Keep Rollers From Sliding
Check Roller Bearings For Proper Grease
Check Bearing Mounting Bolts
Good Luck!

can you time it?  it could be a gear issue or chain drive issue if your belt has one of those.

Check Roller Bearing Set Screws To Keep Rollers From Sliding

Had that happen on an older dryer but that caused problems no matter what speed was set.
