50/50 White Underbase
« on: April 19, 2012, 10:53:05 AM »
Hello, what is your preferred 50/50 white ink for underbasing? I have access to Union & Wiflex.
I had a 4 color print last week tin which I used Union's Diamond White and it looked great before going into the dryer. After going through I either let it get a little too hot or it was just the blowing agents causing a rough texture through the top colors. See before and after. The after is in different lighting...it actually doesn't look too bad in person but I would have preferred how it would have come out using 100% cotton & cotton white. There is a slight white speckling in the underbased colors.

The underbase was a 110 to avoid a PFP (there were solid areas of white in the image too), Yellow was solid over the underbase @ 200, Red Gradient was 200. There was a also a blue gradient over white that had the same speckling.

I usually run the dryer at 330, but adjusted down to 310/315. Any lower and I was afraid of an undercure.

Thanks.
