We decided to go on a diet, pretty simple, lower our daily calorie intake. Portion control blah blah blah.
So far so good... here has been the trick for me. Sucralose, Splenda is it's "brand name".
Everyone knows I'm WAY too cheap to pay for Splenda and it's just too much trouble to pick up every "spare" packet at the table when you go out to eat (and a little unethical to say the least). So I go online, I find liquid sucralose, 16 oz for $65 bucks... seems expensive but 3 drops = 2 Teaspopns of sugar as sucralose is 600 TIMES more sweet than sugar. I also pick up 2 oz of pure powder sucralose for $38 bucks... that equals 76lbs of sugar! And that ain't no exaggerations, this sh|t is SWEET!
I've managed to pick up an unsweet tea at McDonalds and sprinkle a little liquid sucralose and bam! not much different that the "real deal".
Zero calories.
Almond milk, 60 calories per serving... that's almost half regular milk... yeah it's got a little nutty taste (only if you breathe through your nose while you are drinking it LOL)... put almond milk on your cereal and drizzle a little sucralose and it's just like regular milk with sugar... pretty impressive.
Now here is what prompted this post:
A few years back I was experimenting trying to make carbonated coffee... never got it right and it was really just a bad idea... well, I had all this instant coffee left over and I started playing around with it (I don't actually drink coffee). I found if you take instance coffee and put it in milk with a few scoops of sugar you have yourself a VERY cheap "Star Bucks Frappuccino" thingy. Well, tonight I was looking for something different before bed and I remembered the wife picked up some instant coffee for flavoring up stuff. The light went off.
Almond milk + instant coffee + liquid sucralose = SUPER cheap, very low calorie "Star Bucks Frappuccino"!
I'm pumped as that was such a delicious drink but what a guilty pleasure with so much sugar!
