Collecting old vintage/wooden fishing lures.

Just and FYI for all interested.  I Collect old vintage/wooden fishing lures. Bad or good shape. I also collect those more "unique" lures like tge old beer cans, Little grass skirt lady lures, company fishing lures like Coke, IBM etc.  NOt just any lure tho. I collect the unique as indicated but the old lures need to be from the 70's and back. WOOD are especially desired. Also, any other smaller "old"  fishing items like the buttons that came along with your fishing license (no matter the state).

If anyone has anything of that nature, I'd be interested in seeing what we could trade out. Art, seps, etc.

my cousin is HUGE into this!  He hits every flea market around trying to find these.  He is always rattling off how much they are worth.  guess its pretty cool.

I have a customer that collects lures... HIGH end stuff... he says he has lures worth thousands of dollars!

Hey,  watch the fancy talk. These are just old junky fishing lures that nobody can use. They are not work more than the old paint on them...right? errrrrright!      Funny thing,  I know a guy named Fred Arborgast. I think the guy who made these Arborgast lures was name Fred.  I had a few in my last collection. Ya know, in my last collection, I had an original Heddon Dowagiac Slopenose #2  worth about $500.00 along with a gamfisher worth about $300.00     I sold them. 


Very few are worth thousands. Maybe collectivly if you can find a group. I just checked tonight on ebay. They had one SET of maybe 60 lures and was selling for over $3000.00.  Individually, I don't think that they were worth that. Prob. about (at best), $25.00 each.

Most lures if you get them at the antique stores, are around $5.00-10.00 and some for $25.00 but those $25.00 ones are the better ones.

It seems Ebay is all over he place on prices.

My wife has a relative who's late husband had a huge collection of lures. Since he's passed, I don't know if the family still has them or if perhaps they've been sold.

My wife is going to call her tomorrow to see if they still have them. If so, I'll post the verdict. He's been gone 4 or 5 years by now, so they might have been sold.  Amazing stuff, that collection....

I don't know where you live, but if it happens to be in the neighborhood of Colorado Springs, or you'd entertain the notion of a road trip we'll try to get you in touch, if they still exist.

Stan, I know you've heard this before, but....you are the man!  Those are the ones I like to get into because they are sort of pristine vintage. Meaning, they haven't been though the hands of dealer after dearer over the years. They feel a bit more dirty after that but I always still love to get a new one or more. I've been treating myself over the last few months.

I asked, if he did restoration work because my father-in-law buys older lures from time to time on ebay but they need work.

That is when he told me what his lures are worth because he said he only buys MINT stuff.
