Ink smears on film

Prosperi-Tees:
Running an Epson 1400 and cheap film. I am getting these smear on the ends of my film. Any idea whats causing it? It usually doesn't affect anything as I just cut off that piece before burning.

I dont know but it also does not happen on every film.

Denis Kolar:
Ink somewhere in your printer. It happens on my 1100 every once in a while.
Try installing a waste tank.

head north:
I've had this happen on my 1400 too.  There was a little "well" inside the printer on the left - took a paper towel and soaked up some of the ink.
