So at the bottom of my street is an old Daffy Dan's, in Ohio he was the screen printer of the 70's and 80's in the Cleveland area, his slogan if you dont have DD on the sleeve its just underwear. I always thought the guy was a pretty cool dude even before I started printing. Once when I was very young he gave me a free shirt I was like 8 so that was way cool. He was at one Time the man in Cleveland, he printed all the radio, concert, sports teams, big business, you name it. So he has the really small unusually shaped building at the bottom of my street, a small A frame, its been for rent for 5-8 years and just sitting there empty. He placed a for rent sign up again a months ago, I have called repeatedly with no response. The place only has like 200 sq feet it would be a retail spot only. SOOOO I see him out there today and start talking to him, what a nice guy, he offered up some advice and really seemed to be a good dude very nice and seem interested in what I had to say. So I ask him what he wants for rent, he tells me he wont rent to another screen printer because he does not want them gaining business by using his well known location. OK I can see that I guess but wouldn't you think, if he felt the location, because it was a Daffy Dan's would generate business or interest just because its now open again, wouldn't you think he would just reopen it?? He still prints and the building must be paid for by now so the cost would be minimal I would think. I just found it weird that he would not be open if he felt that way. Let me say again he was very nice to talk to and seemed like a good guy. I just don't get it.
