Child's play
« on: February 24, 2012, 08:55:53 PM »
Heres a great story,
My daughter (8)  tells me her and her friend are going to design and sell shirts to their friends. I ask her how much they will cost and she says she figured out that most kids have about $10.00 a week for lunch at school so they will be priced below that, she thinks at 5 dollars so the kids can still eat a little. I say wow that is great and sound smart, so who is printing them? She tells me I am. I ask her how much am I getting paid and she said 50 cents a shirt. I explained that i would need at least $2.75  to pay for everything she says oh ok you get $2.75 I teller that mean I am not making any money on this job. She tells me dad your just the printer its not like your selling anything and besides you were just going to make 50 cents a shirt you should be happy. I ask her what is she going to do with the money she makes and she says buy her own shirts so I don't charge her so much. Man I love the way she thinks. I found out tonight she is making invitations to my sons birthday party and charging my wife $10.00 the kid has a racket going here.

When we moved from San Francisco to our house in the suburbs, our older son, about 12, had it all figured out that he could sell the fruit from the nectarine, apricot, cherry and plum trees on the new property.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

That is great for your daughter that is, lol.  Thinking smart at that age is a great sign for great things in the future.  Sounds like you need to get her involved in some negotiations with your suppliers for better rates.  hehehe

I have a vinyl cutter for decals,  My son has made a pretty good living banging out decals for friends bikes, binders, lockers etc. He started around 9years old and now at 14 I can get him to cut and premask files for my customers.
