Website Content Thieves Are Lazy
« on: February 24, 2012, 05:15:48 AM »
We just got word of another printer stealing our website content. I went to visit the site and it turns out to be a lot worse than I expected. They were so lazy they couldn't even try to re-write the content-not even a little bit. They even missed a back link to our site and pictures with our logo ::). They took our old About Us content, T-shirt 101 Page content, Artwork Requirement Content, multiple pictures, multiple banners, header source code, design tutorial, our slogan, and our authorize.net image which is not (of course) verified.

Why would any company want to be caught doing this? Is it really worth the risk to be lazy? Or perhaps I am mistaking laziness for their lack of originality. Isn't it embarrassing? This is the fourth time I've caught a company doing this; and it is far from flattering. We put hours upon hours of hard work into this content and graphic artwork to better our company; not help these deadbeats.

threadless,

That’s funny I just posted that someone stole my stuff too. Go to www.copyscape.com and put your website in and it will highlight everything they stole. It will also show you other people that stole from you. I have had 4 guys do it in the last 3 years.

Yeah copyscape.com is a great tool. It helped me find another printer who stole our terms of service content. Somehow they forgot to take our name out of the terms. I would have liked to see them try to protect themselves with those terms ha ha.

That's nuts! I'm guilty of a few stick pictures but nothing to that degree, big balls. Now I have looked at site for lay out and content help but not straight up copy and paste.

That is just sad.  What company is it?  I don't think there's harm in pointing a finger so others might steer clear of them in business and friendship lol.

You guys just need to make a sight that sucks and nobody will steal it. ;D

I think you should rat them out here so we can see who they are. Or even better we can all call them for quotes all day and tie up their phone lines.

Is there any chance that they paid someone to develope a site for them... and the contractor stole your content, without telling the purchaser ??

I can picture it happening this way:
Man, I need to get a website
Hey, my nephew dickwad is an Ace at that
Cool what does he charge ?
Oh... he's really cheap and he's really fast

I had that happen one of the times on my site. The guy had no clue. He got his money back....well that is what he told me happened.

ha ha thanks for the advice. You can see the company name on the last attachment I uploaded. I've called them but they don't pick up,  I'm sure they are too busy stealing other peoples content  :D . I just want to get them on the phone and congratulate them on their creative looking website.
