Very strange art issue
Atownsend:
This one has me scratching my head and I need to get to the bottom of it before I lose my sh!t.
I have a channel sep saved as a DCS 2. Its linked to a separate AI file which has our CTS template and a vector L chest print. On both the EPS file and in the AI file, "Buffett" is spelled correctly. Now in the xitron rip, Buffett is spelled as "Buffet". So naturally thats on a bunch of shirts too.
What is this about. Anyone see this before? How do I prevent this from happening again, just not sure whats going on here at all. 1000% sure nobody here edited this.
Hoping this will be funnier next week.
Any ideas on whats going on here?

You know how you tell your customers to create outlines around their fonts? Do the same thing.
Object < Flatten Transparency < Click Convert All Text To Outlines < OK.

Tried it, but to do that i need to embed the DCS 2 file, which AI wont allow.
The typeface in the art file that was affected is a raster. The placement label was not converted to an outline.
I manually converted the font and dropped it in the rip. What do you know... its spelled correctly. THANKS!! What is going on here? I get the effect, but im not understanding the cause.
Atownsend:
i guess it comes down to not understanding how the RIP is actually working.
Moral of the story... always make sure everything is converted to outlines. It just blows my mind that the raster data was changed from a vector font being present and not outlined.
Sbrem:
I was using .psd files instead of DCS 2.0 for the last 15 years or so. Maybe that will work for you. I can't think of a way that a letter would be dropped. In the .psd files, the text should be converted to raster, in Illy, the text would be converted to outlines. At least that was my experience.
