Corel x4 trapping

Hey guys anyone using corel x4, whats the easiest way to do your trapping of colors? Do you just outline them? or is there better way? I remember seeing a cool way to do it using photo paint but cant remember. I am still so new with this stuff. Anyway please let me know your tricks. Thanks Roger

Do you mean trapping or choking?

Believe it or not, 'choking' is the better one, although only advisable on an underbase/underprint.
( or if someone is really getting on yer nerves )

The whole X4 thing, while relevant to the question, is circumstantial,
and should not be confused with the underlying factors involved when choosing one method,
the other method,
both,
or neither.

 

If you manually sep each plate, outlines are handy ( either black or white, behind or overlapping ).
For Corel's ( or Illy's ) automated BS...last time I checked it was still set up more for offset printing.
I always sep in a raster program ( didn't always, but for a long time now..pixel data doesn't lie )

I have a nice little macro that chokes simple solid vectors, one click and it makes a underbase choked down 1 point.

I do all my trapping and choking manually in DRAW. Gives more accuracy on the various elements in a design. Some areas might require a .5 choke where others can only hold a hairline choke.

I use the Device Independent Postscript file for separating spot colors. It has a trapping option. But I still do a lot manually.
