PVC Back Pack Printing

I have a local quote for 100 - 200 PVC back packs with a 1 color print.  I've tried vinyl and Screen printed transfer but the each will scratch off with your finger nail.  Any suggestions on a process that might work.

I'm surprised that they held up to the transfer press heat.
Direct print vinyl ink was something I used to use (but it smelled terrible)
I would think that transfers made with the proper ink would work as well.
Now, when you say that you've tried vinyl, do you mean cad-cut? Which one did you try?
Some of them are known for more aggressive adhesive as well.
Perhaps, also, one of our DTF people could chime in and talk about its suitability (or lack thereof)

I tried Elasti Prints from Transfer Express and Thermo-film from Stahls.

Like Andy, I'll recommend vinyl ink, such as poster inks. It should "bite" into the PVC (poly VINYL chloride) but yes, it's a strong solvent smell. I'm also surprised that it held up to a heat press. Years ago, we had primer that we could spray onto difficult items that worked, but finding that, as well as applying it before you print is a bit laborious.

From Stahls, I think that Gorilla Grip 2 and Thermo Grip work on tougher substrates. (though nowhere does their info mention PVC)
I use Siser Easy Weed Extra for Nylon and Leather

Let me know if you want to try a DTF transfer. I don't know if it will work but happy to send you samples to try. I would suggest going down to about 275 degrees for 10 seconds. Wait for it to be cold before peeling off the transfer.

Nazdar should have a product in a screen printable solvent ink that is air dry.

Either 9700 AP or Enamel Ink is what I would try.

That way you don't have to deal with heat,

I have Thermo Grip which I can try.  I called Stahls and they have nothing with that low of a temperature that wouldn't melt the bag first.

I might have some 9700 from Nazdar I can try as a sample.
