Epson 1430 - retaining memory of previously printed files.
« on: August 13, 2021, 11:09:02 AM »
Our Epson 1430 is retaining memory of previously printed files. I gather that this means our printer is going out soon.

I’ve powered down, unplugged and left it sit for about 2 min then papered back up.
I’ve shut down my computer, and restarted.

I’ve checked the printer in system preferences.  There is ONE thing that is new to me.
We were WI FI, to my color printer and to the Epson 1430. Never had any issues with the wi fi to the Epson printer before.

The color printer (Action Design Xerox) would occasionally get disconnected for whatever reason and I could not re-connect for sometimes 2 hrs at Random. So we finally direct connected to the color printer. That worked. No more issue EXCEPT, now, the original Epson Artisan 1430 now says there is something in it printing. This never happened before.

I’ve set my AccuRip to Epson 1430 as the default printer...  The original  Epson Artisan 1430  now always shows the yellow light on, indicating there is something in there to be printed. When I click on it, it’s empty.

When I go to print my separations via AccuRip To Epson 1430, - It prints my previous files and not the ones I want.  I don’t get my new seps until I print the whole set of the previous seps again. :(
Then it repeats.

My thoughts were to just delete the original Epson Artisan 1430  but I fear that may interrupt connection via the AccuRip to Epson 1430.

Thoughts?

Are sure it's in the printers memory? it might be in your accurip files, I would check those and clean out those old files there as well

I believe that the AccuRip memory is just a copy of what you have printed incase you want to re-print from AccuRip. But yes, I did delete any and all in the list and I still have the issue.

I have now tried deleting the Epson Artisan 1430 and printing without installing the original Epson Artisan 1430.  It needs the original.

it should not be the printer, check your queue. you probably have prints lined up there waiting to print.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

I have no real reason to offer this but similar happens with my epson 3000 gets all focused on printing junk page after page after page.
In my case it is in the printer memory. Solution is to unplug the printer for at least a couple of hours.
Seems the printer forgets all about the junk it was running.
Hope some of that gives you something to try if all else fails.

There is/was an Epson Reset Utility that I used on occasion when our 1400's ink pads were full. It had to run off a pc. Yes we had the ink going into a bottle, but every few months we'd have to reset it. Maybe that might help? I know it's a different issue and all, but hey, computers do some weird siht sometimes...

I know exactly would what Moose is talking about with the old 3000, which was and still is a very good printer if you still got one up and running, it would print so much garbage I had to unplug it, let it sit and clear itself.  Someone told me once that if you unplug your computer or printer for that reason take a screwdriver and touch both ends of the plug at the same time to kill any static electricity or electric that might still be built up in the unit. ;)

So,  “Currently”,   I’ve unplugged it, and let it sit for about an hour.  I come back and test print a 2 color WORD out of Illustrator.  So THAT, is working at the moment.  Will know more via Photoshop in just a bit. But I think it’s cleared out and printing like it is intended to. Crazy.

I had already shut it off twice now, but that was only for about 20 seconds each...and that used to be enough on some other printers to clear out old memory...but this one takes a lot longer.  Odd.
So far, so good!

Thanks gang!!!
