Information Required on Printed Necktags

Hey all,

We're starting to do a lot more relabeling and it is getting to be a pain switching out screens and setups for necktags with different garment info.  I first heard that our printed necktag would require the same info as the tag that we were removing - the Country of Origin, the fabric content, an RN number and care instructions.  However I've seen so many necktags that just have the client's private label and none of that specific info.  It sure would be nice to use the same private label for triblends as well as CVC tees.

Does anyone have the lowdown of how skimpy you can get on these requirements to minimize setups for all of the subtle changes?

Not a lawyer, and I believe the responsibility is on the end seller and we are just decorators, but to my understanding here are the requirements that matter.

• Company Name or RN (not of the original manufacturer, of the seller of the shirt), and the Company Name must be the registered name
• Size (actually isn't a requirement)
• Fabric Content
• Country of Origin (this I'm loose with since it's a PITA so if I have Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua all in an order I just pick one)
• Wash instructions which can be text or symbols

Again, you can make recommendations to a customer for a "legal tag", however I leave that up to their responsibility, if they aren't shipping international it doesn't really matter, I've done shirts where it's just the size and no other info, or ones where they are universal and work for all garments as it doesn't have fabric, just size and company.

That's what I do personally, don't take my advice is you want to follow the guidelines to a T, however it's just shirts...  Who even reads the tags.

As you speak we are doing neck tags right now, but we are doing DTF, I thought about screenprinting them which could be faster, but DTF is less of a pain to do,  We are doing out clients clothing brand label with size, the info label is already there we just flip it back.
