Announcement-Buying a New Dryer

That'd be great.  I'm interested to hear a comparison as I'm basing my opinion off of what I read from users.  Don't have time to go to a show and don't feel like I'd learn enough to make it worth a trip.  I know it sounds petty, but I'm interested in how loud the fans are while running as I'm a one man show and I answer the phone a lot in the shop.

No disrespect but this is way too big of a dryer for any one man/woman shop. It is very quit but is rated at 2400 shirts per hour. Look at our Heatwave which is also very quite and only rated for 500 per hour.

something else to think about is the Boomerang. For a one man show, it might be beneficial to have the shirts come back to where they started. They are a little bit more money though. Somebody here is using one, I think it was Graphic Disorder. See if you can get some feedback from him. I don't have one, but did order it a couple of years back. My financing did not go through, so we did not get it in the end. . .

I printed with a M&R Sprint dryer...brand new... with electric bank assets and an air knife on exit.

Alan you will love that dryer. And I could not ever get ahead of it from a 10 color sportsman and 2 manuals.

Use cloves on pick up if off the belt.

The damn thing even cools its self down and cuts its self off.

Ya we have the Boomerang, great dryer, its perfect for us.  It's not big enough to run two presses from or anything like that, but it handles our sporty just fine.  We do not use it in return mode though, just never had a need yet, but will be handy if we ever get into discharge and such which I am sure we will. 

It has the nice auto cool down as well, man that is nice to have.  We pull the final shirt off of it, flip it off, flip off the press and lock the shop up and leave all of the time.  Really slick.

None taken.  I know his dryer is for high output and would be beyond what I would need.  I'm looking to get a dryer that can keep up with discharge printing when I'm running at full speed right now, and when I have people helping for big orders.  I haven't run with a loader and unloader because I know my dryer won't be able to keep up.

For reference today I'm running 33dz/hr alone and emptying the catch bucket as needed.  Interchange recommended a 48" 8' heat at 6-7 feet per minute.  I don't now how that translates into pieces per hour though.  Would a heatwave with 36" belt keep up with that?  I was thinking 48" belt minimum as I don't want to under-size the dryer or run anything through twice so I'm thinking 800/hr waterbased would be ideal for me and my future needs.

At any rate I'll be contacting you for a quote but this may help people in the future who are trying to get an idea of dryer size for their own applications.

If you are planning to do a lot of discharge look into the 38"Mini-Sprint with 10' of heat. You can easily run discharge through it at a fast speed.

Congrats Alan... your shop is going to be even prettier. Can't wait for the pics. I love M&R dryers. I'd like my next dryer to be a Radicure or a Mini Sprint if we go with gas.

I'll be posting pics in the morning.  I unloaded our old dryer on a flatbed wrecker about 20 minutes ago to take to the buyer's shop so we are ready for the new one.  Moving a big ass dryer like the one we had really wasn't near as difficult as I thought it would be.  It took us 20 minutes to get it ready to move, just detaching the gas line and electricity, along with the air ducting and we were done.  The forklift handled it easily and the whole process took 30 minutes and we were screwing around having fun while doing it.  I've got to get everything cleaned and ready for the sprint but we've got time to get that done.  I'm ready to uncrate this son of a gun and fire it up!!!

One of, if not, the best thing to ever happen with dryers next to the cool skin technology.
All those years of 20-30 min waits for a dryer to cool off before you could throw the disconnect and go home..

now.. push the OFF button and go home.

Oh yeah.. anyone thinking of doing discharge in a Heatwave R.. don't do it. The squirrel blower is to small to handle the level of moisture, fumes and lint generated from the discharge process.
It can handle 500 pcs of plastisol easliy.. you'll be lucky to do 300pcs an hour when you print full size front discharge. I spent many a day waiting for space on the belt to lay the shirt.

I know this because I had to clean the cage after it was so encrusted the dryer would no longer even fire up. After a cleaning, it ran at new for a month until I had to back off the gas pressure as it started to fail again.

Here we go boys.  I'm waiting on Equipment Depot to drop off the pallet jack I ordered 3 days ago that was supposed to come with the forklift but they forgot it.  I told them the truck would be here early and I needed the jack by 8AM at the latest and it's not here yet.

The two times I've rented a forklift and a pallet jack they've forgotten the pallet jack. Weird.
