Workhorse Sabre odd registration issue
« on: November 01, 2020, 10:06:12 PM »
We moved into a new smaller shop and moved everything ourselves. After getting our Sabre set up we have a weird issue. Our odd platens are out of registration on head 4. We can print on all the other heads and no issue. If we use head 4 only the odd numbered platens are out of registration. It's always 1/8 of an inch to the left when facing the center of the press from behind the head. Tried it on a few jobs and always the same. Always set up the job on platen #1. Tried it on others and get the same issue.

Called Workhorse and they want almost $2k to have a tech come to southern Indiana and check it out. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

This probably has nothing to do with it but did you number the platens and match to existing press arms before you moved? Same platens same press arms?

Just to be clear, when you say out of registration, you do mean that it doesn't line up with the
other heads, and not just that it's off center?

Check the easy stuff, make sure bolts securing the head are tight, try and physically shift it, etc.
Make sure the screen hanger/holders and locks are tight.

Also check that it's parallel to the platens, you don't have to go crazy here, visually parallel f/b
and side to side is fine.

That it's only one head sounds like an issue with that head and not the registration bearings/forks,
(not familiar with the  Sabre but the concept is the same for all machines) but stranger things have happened.

Yes, everything is marked. I just went a checked to make sure we didn't have a brain fart and put them on wrong.

When we register a job all the screens line up and the test print is perfect. When we start printing, head 4 prints 1/8 of an inch off but only on the odd numbered platens.
