WTH is up with our screens?

After 15 years this has not happened before..

so how did this happen? we have a bunch of screens like this now. Im sure it wasnt the ink, its happened with all different colors of ink. 

We have used the same franmar chemicals since we started. Same process. This wasnt a newbie.  Im wondering what they did differently some day to ruin our screens.

When the screen is clean, its clear, but when you coat it, it looks like its not coating where the image was.

I reclaimed this one again myself and when its clear i look at it in the light and i can still see the image,. more so with the higher mesh. 

Any ideas?

I can't give you any specific suggestions as to why now all-of-a-sudden, but an additional step of a haze remover like Liquid Re-Nuit from CCI will probably clear it up.

Although products like Liquid Re-Nuit can still damage mesh if allowed to dwell longer than the instructions suggest, these are nothing compared to the gray lye pastes of yesteryear. (Especially the old Autohaze)

ok.. so we use a de hazer from franmar.. so maybe they are keeping it on too long?

So i should give CCi a try frog?

its weird, it doesnt seem to be a haze, we have had haze before with certain inks,.

I swear by the CCI Liquid Re-Nuit for helping with "ghosts".
That said, I was once sent some other stuff from them as a bonus (LHR+Plus) that I didn't like nearly as much. Timing on its dwell was much more critical.

Is that plastisol ink ghost or WB ink ghost,  I've had some screens do that and it was due to not cleaning the screen good,  once you clean your screen spray water over them and you will see the ghost image still if the screen is not clean good and that image might show up in your fresh emulsion screens.

we use plastisol... i decided to reclaim one myself. Its not like its a ghost image where the shadow is there and you can still coat and burn it, but when you coat the screen, where the image was, the emulsion doesnt cover.

Don't water down the dehazer, use it straight and let it sit on the entire screen for about 1.5 minutes then finish the reclaim process. We use 701N from easiway and it works well, I keep a one gallon of 415N from them on hand in case I have any issues like this. That stuff is caustic and dangerous but will clean the crap out of anything.

Like you, I use the 701 as a regular player in reclaim with CCI Re-Stor for difficult images.

Oh yeah, I lost a dozen frames once by taking a phone call just after applying it; Sodium Hydroxide, or caustic soda. I came back and all were split open from there own tension. Lesson learned. Not to mention what it does to skin after a couple of minutes.

I use some solvent inks that do almost the same thing if we do not degrease well enough. I know you said it happened with a couple of ink colors. I am wondering if an anything else has changed...

The dehazer from Franmar can be left on your mesh all week if you wanted to do that.  It will not damage the threads.

Did you have any additives in those inks that are causing the fisheyes?

My assumption is that there is something within the knuckles that is holding onto or releasing something to interfere with your emulsion - what that would be, I do not know.
