improving customers artwork gripe

Ever take the time to wow a customer by taking their crappy artwork and make it look awesome only for the customer to say "no... looks better the way it was" ? Idiots!!!!! Wont be doing that again.

Yup, and when you do 2 designs, customers will more than likely pick the one you threw in there for filler to make it look like you put some effort into it.

hahahahaha. . .what do you mean? we spend HOURS on every design.... ::)

had one yesterday like this -spent 20 minutes, made a turd look presentable. . .response was " can you just put the image in the middle and arc the text over the top?". . .yes mam'. . yes I can. . .you pay me to do whatever you want, I just make suggestions.

  A lot of times I will clean up crap just because I refuse to print it in it's
present state. They never notice  :'( but I feel better.  8)

Or you accidentally make it a 7 color when your press is a 6 and they LOVE IT..

Or you accidentally make it a 7 color when your press is a 6 and they LOVE IT..

Done that, had to drop the underbase and pfp everything , 12 rotations on a press for 6 shirts really sucks.

Yep, once I had someone give me an amateurish pencil drawing of a soccer ball with flames around it (as though that's never been done before...).I scanned it, vectorized it and cleaned up all the curves to make it look really cool. The customer asked couldn't I do it the way he submitted it? I took the original raw pencil sketch and printed it as a halftone and he loved it. Go figure...

Sometimes it's a kid's art, and needs to remain childishly amateurish. Of course, in your case we don't know.

I'm with Andy on this. I've learned to ask if they want us to clean it up and make it look professional, or if they'd like to retain the feel of their little Picasso's work. At least if you ask, you might save yourself some time. You know the expression "pearls before swine", or maybe "there's no accounting for taste" ?

I once had  a person over me at Disney that just wanted to put her fingers on to something in my design process. So, she had me move this element around in the design about 6 times before I kindly suggested she show me where she would like it. So, she opened the file, moved it around to a place where it was several times before... since it didn't fit anywhere else and said, there, I like that. What do you think of that Dan?  PERFECT ! I said with vigor. ;0 Thats IT!  Thanks for the help on that. It was a stumper. She sort of knew what I was doing at that point and she left me alone after that. lol.

Before I started Screen Printing I did logo designs and other graphic design work. I had a customer that I worked with for 8 months on their new logo. I first designed about 5 options for them and then they made changes to one of them for 8 months. About 60 to 70 rounds of changes in that time. The final logo was almost exactly the same as the first one. Many of the changes were so detailed that you would never even know the difference if they were side by side. I want the client to be happy. Even with 70 or so changes I think I may have had only 5 or 6 hours total in the changes. Many took more time to read the email explaining what they wanted changed then it took to make the changes.

Thats so dern ridiculous it makes me sick. I wish we had a puke icon. The real sad part is, I know that crap really happens. We might think these are wives tales or folk lote but no, it exist. You gotta understand that I been in a place where they bread people like that. Worked there for 11years.

Shawn. this is the year you start over. My number 9 in your balls will feel like nothing compared to loosing your income from pulling stunts like this, right? I'm an hour away my, let me know when I can stop in.
