Weird I-Image problem
« on: June 03, 2020, 11:45:30 AM »
Wondering if anyone has experienced a problem I am having with my I-Image ST...

The printer itself is always left on. BUT after about 4 hrs of non printing there is no communication with it from the print production software. I can send a auto cleaning command, move the print head, cap and un cap the print head. But when you push the blue print button, it sits for 5-10 sec and doesn't move the screen, then just begins printing on nothing... The controls to move the screen in/out do not work both on the control panel program and the physical buttons on the printer. I have to power down the printer for about 5 seconds and start it back up and it works just fine then.

Hopefully I'll never have to grow up and get a real job...

Mine does that too.  Not all the time just sometimes.  I usually just cancel print and start again and it works.

It sounds as if the Amica software (that drives the table) is not communicating with the Graphics program software and Printer software. Those are separate. One drive ehe printer, the other drive s the table (in synchronization). You may need a re-install, by a Tech on line, or....your table sensor (under the table) has been bumped or shifted. Maybe the screw needs tightened. But that thing IS very sensitive...and must be in the exact location (distance) that it needs to be.  If it shifts away, the table doesn't move even though it has been sent a signal to move. (It’s not connecting that signal). Everything else is working (both programs), but it’s physically not getting the signal to move.

This might of happened (but would be a long shot or very rare,) but can have shifted from maybe kicking a box under the table or something and it got bumped it (if that is the problem).  It’s high up under the table so it’s a hard thing to do (bump it), but it can happen. I’d check that first (with a Tech) on the phone since it needs to be so exact.

Dirk’s might be something different. If this happens at all, and is the cause, (you will see the problem much more frequently at even the slightest chance that this is the problem. Like if it wrks intermittently, then it might be working on 1 screen out of 6 or 10 cuz when it’s out of place, it’s out of place. It’s so sensitive that this could be the different of one half screw turn.

Call a Tech. It’s free to solve the problem on phone, but cost you time.

I remember having this issue on USB 2.0 ports, or the ports in the original computer. Once you added a PCI USB 3.0 port card it didn't happen anymore.

We upgraded computers to windows 10, and new hardware last year and don't have any issues anymore.

I think this only happened with the 1-2 years they came out? I can't remember.

Ours used to always create temp files that would literally use all the storage on the hard drive. We'd have to go and delete them all periodically.
Seems to be alleviated with windows 10 also.
I spend too much money on equipment...

A bad USB port has caused some issues with some odd things.   parts/components are not always perfect. I once installed a new I-Image STE ll at Custom Ink. (1 of 4) and it didn’t work when I got it installed. We identified the problem to be the power cable wire connection. I took it apart and sure enough, it wasn’t connected to the end. Just freely loose on the inside of the sheets. Had to overnight another.
