My Epson 7600 just broke. Need recommendations.
« on: July 17, 2020, 04:22:57 PM »
My 7600 will not print any film at the moment. It just keep telling me "Paper Out" after printing about 4" of film. It's on 100' roll, so it just doesn't make any sense.

I have a ton of jobs lined up and need a quick solution. I don't know anything about printers, so I'm reaching out to you all to see what you would recommend.

Wishlist
-Compatible with Acurip Black Pearl
-Capability to accept rolls of film
-At least 17" print area

Check and make sure your paper feed setting is correct, IE you have roll feed selected.

Yeah, I made sure that is was set to "roll feed/auto cut". I did some more trouble shooting and realized that if the film is short enough, there's no problem. I was trying to print a 21" piece of film when it would give me the error. So then I thought that maybe the film is pushing back against the table and causing back pressure on the printer, so I make a little makeshift ramp to guide the film down. That didn't work. Tried installing new drivers for Accurip as well as the printer. Shut down the printer, shut down the computer.

Can't think of anything else to try.

Try turning to "roll feed cutter off".
I know it sounds odd but ours does weird things if we have the cutter set to on.
Filmmaker sends the command for cutting anyways which might be the issue, I assume
Accurip does similar. We've bumped the button to turn the cutter on in the past and lost our
minds trying to figure out the issue.

I was afraid that turning that off would cause the whole roll to feed through, but it sounds like that wont be the case. I'll give it a shot tomorrow and see what happens!

I looked on Ebay and locally for these types of printers and couldn't find a single one. The only other option at this point would be to buy a new T Series for $2500. I got my 7600 for $300, so paying a couple grand for a printer puts a pit in my gut.

I think you can turn off the paper sensor. I'll see if I can find the instructions.
