M&R Red Chili Quartz Lamps
« on: February 18, 2020, 04:50:57 PM »
So I would like to ask if anyone is using an alternate vendor for the M&R Red Chili & Red Chili D Flash Cure unit bulbs. The M&R replacement bulbs are wrangling in at about the $100 mark and we've found an alternate source where they are about $25-$30 each depending on the lamp. They work fine but I wonder if anyone had any details on whether there is really any significant difference in "heat throw" between the two. Both are 1500W and the alternate vendor says they are a direct replacement.

If anyone has any direct knowledge or experience why it would be best to pay the huge difference in price for the M&R provided bulbs, I would love to rack your brain and know why. There may be a reason but I just don't know what it could be.

Thanks in advance!

We use the lamps from Soneko USA. From what I understand they are the same ones that M&R installs from the factory. Would be nice to get them cheaper from M&R, one stop shopping and all. But I can see why they mark them up... after all we mark up our garments when reselling them to our customers. No way they're going to get my Alpha Broder pricing on blanks without a markup.

Well, with the M&R bulbs, I think they throw in a nifty lint free glove to handle the bulbs. Sure seems like an expensive glove! ;D

Thanks for the information on that vendor.

this thread came at the right time! Just about to get some new bulbs.

I wish there was a stickied thread for no frills replacement parts instead of going to the MFG.

Soneko quoted me $44 for either item, plus shipping. The other vendor I mentioned above are $22.50 and $27.00. I wonder if there are any performance differences?

I thought CGS was a used machine dealer? Am I wrong? Over the years, I thought I had just associated that company with used equipment for some reason.

When you say "he's the man", what exactly do you mean? He sells new parts for machines?

CGS is the best in the business with restorations, You basicley get a brand new machine when you buy from then. They strip them and rebuild down to every screw. He also has a full service team and sells parts.

we bought a 2010 sportsman E and a 48" sprint from him early last year.  press looks and runs like a new press.

What Rick said. He’s also highly knowledgeable and besides selling parts he can help you get what you need if you’re unsure.
