Murakami LX mesh
« on: January 23, 2020, 06:22:41 AM »
We are considering getting some of our frames re-stretched with LX-mesh. Now we would have to buy a roll which will set us back around $240. Anyone else here using LX mesh? Any pros and cons please.

Breaks SUPER easy. We used it only on our 150's  but eventually stopped because of how much more dramatically fragile it was. We already run S mesh on 400 or so statics and 100 or so rollers and have grown accustomed to being careful. LX was a different ballgame. Also, with the small amount of plastisol we use, it just was not worth it for us.

Hopefully I'll never have to grow up and get a real job...

LX has a softer thread than our polyester S mesh.  This allows white bases to print with even less pressure, the RZ value is also lower which also reduces the squeegee pressure needed.  The softer thread can be 'chewed up by sharp squeegee corners' but in our tests it doesn't rip as easily as regular S mesh.  We reinforce the flood and squeegee landing areas with thin chipboard and tape over the top.  This spreads the forces out when printing starts.  A 150/48 S-mesh vs LX 150/48, the LX will show a bit better opacity and less squeegee pressure.

edited for clarification.  LX will print with slightly better opacity and less squeegee pressure
