Pallet Racks?
« on: December 20, 2019, 05:07:52 PM »
We are finally moving into a real big boy shop (23,000 sq ft) and have 112 linear feet of wall we want to line with pallet racks.  What's the best place to grab these?  I see them listed on uline and grainger and a bunch of those types of sites, and pricing is almost identical.  I have also seen a bunch of listings on craigslist.  Anyone have an opinion on where to get them, or a solid source for a deal?  Thanks!

I bought mine used from www.palletracktrader.com they are out of Fort Worth, TX. They have different options and easy to work with. At least my experience with them.

The kind of thing that if bought new is outrageous and if bought used can be had for less than scrap prices.
Just look for any going out of business sales.

In our state we're required to concrete bolt the feets (among other things) but I strongly recommend doing at least that.
We've all seen the careless forklift operators on Youtube...

we have tons of pallet rack - we bought some of it from companies that resell used warehouse equipment.

Eric,

Have any specific leads on this?  I've reached out to a few of the places listing stuff on craigslist and either havent gotten a reply or the pricing isnt great.  May be searching for the wrong terms...

We use this place:

they are based in south Houston.

But honestly, i feel like you could find so many places around Austin.

Those are screen racks.  We are talking about pallet racks.  12 foot tall, 4 foot deep, etc.  bulk storage essentially.

Look for a closing WalMart or similar store. Now that steel recycling is poor it doesn't pay gas money to recycle them. Look for some store auctions. I loaded a rental truck packed full for $200.

We just got 6 sections cheap as dirt off of Facebook Marketplace. Don’t buy new. They are everywhere if you look in the right places.

I'll check facebook. craigslist is basically all just one source that is spamming ads, or tiny warehouses without enough.

on craigslist you have to bundle duplicates to get anywhere.  Some things just have a crazy amount of junk posts.

FB marketplace can be great...I wish you could see a better estimate of how long something has been listed rather than "over a week" for something that is 3 months old.  I also find the prices there to be higher than CL on most items I research(mainly woodworking tools)
