I just tried to open CS4 and it worked fine. Can't tell about the CS5 . . .

I'd guess probably, but have to assume that you will have the same issues with "compression" (and the usual text to outlines and such).

There is always the official Corel Forum for this kind of question as well.
Please report back.

You can always open the CS5 file with a pdf reader such as Acrobat and save a copy which Corel will import.

My guess is No....unless you're very lucky.
X5 came out BEFORE CS5.
Whether they made any modifications in the X5 update, I can't say.

Lately, I haven't even been wasting my time with trying to import into Corel first or mucking with pdf's etc.
I open the file in CS5 so I'm certain what it looks like and then bring it back into Corel.

It sounds like you have the means and ability to actually try, so don't guess, check it out and give us the definitive poop when you get a few minutes!

C'mon make a simple circle in CS5 and fill it with a crazy Adobe style fill and see what happens in X5
Take your laptop with you the next time you visit the little girl's room lol!

Oh sure, put the blame on me
I don't think a simple shape would be a good test
If  I do that and it works, then it doesn't work when you have a file with some substance, you're gonna' say ......oh, but DIANE said it would work!

On the other hand, are you thinking that maybe any CS5 file, no matter how simple may not work?
There's a point

Okay, hold on
Let's see if a can make a circle in Illy......a feat in itself!
....be back

Okee dokee
I made 2 rectangles in CS5
Saved the file as CS5 ai file WITHOUT compression

I first tried my handy dandy paste from Illy macro.....worked fine.
Then I tried a simple straight import......also worked fine.

So I guess with some files, at least, it works just dandy

Does anyone have a "real" file they know for a fact was created in CS5 for me to try?

Wait a second. I said fill it Adobe style. No gradient made up of 127 slivers is simple!  ;D

well, look at this
wonders never cease, I guess
Attached is a screen shot of an Adope(y) CS5 gradient box both copy/pasted and imported into CS5
Both came into Corel and both displayed an accurate gradient.

I could have lost a (sizeable) bet on this one.

Isn't Corel simply wonderful?
Grant me the ability to change the things I can, the strength to accept the things I cannot and the wisdom to recognize the difference.
