Embroidery Troubleshooting
« on: September 24, 2019, 11:26:29 AM »
Hey everyone-

Quick background, while we had embroidery in house years ago we got rid of it and sent everything out. Concentrate on what we did best. Well a few weeks ago we brought it back in house.... While we are experienced and can troubleshoot printing pretty well, not so much with embroidery.

Having trouble with a logo. You can see in the pics it is not looking great at some points. My first thought is just have it re digitized, but the odd thing is we have had this job ran by the contract shop 3-4 times with the same digitized file(I think it is the same file, I didn't think they would re digitize a 45K stitch file without asking or charging us)  and it always came out fine.

Any ideas of what could be going on or how we could remedy this? Really kind of wishing I didn't bring this back in hose a bit now! We are running it on a Barudan if that helps at all.
Alex

Hopefully I'll never have to grow up and get a real job...

ive had lots of experience on ZSK and minimal on Tajima.

i check tension first as our operators crank up the tension too high. madeira has a good pic on their website:  https://www.madeirausa.com/services/troubleshooting/adjusting-thread-tensions/default.aspx

are you using the correct needle for the fabric?

the tech for ZSK said this about the hook:  Looping on top = hook too close, Missing stitches = hook too far

also see this about puckering fabric and looping stitches: https://www.madeirausa.com/services/troubleshooting/fabric-puckering/default.aspx

The only thing I can tell you about embroidery, when something is sewing wrong -it's your tension...If it's not the tension, double check because it is  ;D

....or poor digitizing but in this case your tension is probably off....or your backer is too light, double up on the backer and see what the result is - AFTER you check tensions of course  ;)
...keep doing what you're doing, you'll only get what you've got...

Need to see the inside of the garment. Should be seeing roughly 1/3 of top color, bobbin, 1/3 top color. White top top makes it harder to see

improper hooping fabric loose - improper backing, cut away? - is this T shirt material - looks like you need more density in tape - satin stitch intersections are always a problem as the separate, digitizer needs to pad these intersections with more stitching when doing underlay.

Besides tension and hook spacing, look at the needle bar height. I did some very thick material the other day and it sewed quite well except for one needle on one head. Makes me think that at least my problem was not timing or hook distance.

They may not have re digitized it but I bet they adjusted the original file which is quite easy to on with good software like Wilcom. First thing I see is not great stitch density, poor underlay if any and not enough overlap (trap) among-st the different elements. For large satin columns like this I would increase the density, add better underlay, like a dense tatami or double zig zag and adjust the over lapping. Then I would start on tensions.
