Who is going?  Anything "can't miss"?  Anyone that cant go want me to check out something for them and report back?  I feel like every year we miss the trade shows and we are trying really hard to make this one FINALLY!

I think this is a move in the right direction for SGIA. Looks like they remembered there are still rag printers out there. Years ago it used to be great and then the textile side dwindled. a lot of ink, emulsion, equipment  people stopped  having booths and just repped out of their supplier booth space. You had to walk from end to end to find that little 10x10 foot booth you needed to find. It looks like textile is in a dedicated section. I think they are moving in the right direction. I wish I could make it this year. I almost booked flights but backed out at the last minute. Have a great time and let us know what we miss.

floor looks ENORMOUS.  i see damn near everyone will be there.  I dont see workhorse, but i may have missed them.  i assume hirsch will be showing off mhm. lots of dtg stuff too, which we are interested in.

The challenge SGIA is facing is trying to be all things to all people and the Printing United partnership goes a long way towards accomplishing that goal.  Bimm is correct the PU show floor is a move in the right direction for product specialities however I think it shortchanges my wondering/buying time. However I can't get everything I want so keep these things in mind.

Most of my/your show time is booked well before I get there and I always leave the last day for exploring those thing unknown to me, Damn this year I would need a golf cart with extra batteries for exploration.  So take it from a show junkie, plan in advance, productive show time starts well before the show floor opens.  Book breakfast meetings, attend industry events such as the garment decorators luncheons, utilize the hour right after the official show floor closes before security escorts you out of the building, and plan to sleep when you get home.

Regarding priviliged conversations, they have no place on the show floor, if you hear someboy talking about the greatest new product make sure you let them finish their thought and then politely enter the coversation asking for clarification and additional details.  If it is priviliged they will say so and move to a quiter spot as they should have in the first place, otherwise you just learned some neat new stuff.

Here is the golden phrase you must remember when talking to a vendor, does not matter how big or small your company is.  Walk up to the booth staff, introduce yourself and your business, tell them a key fact about your business and then say this, "What can you and your company do to help me grow my business?"  AND then shut up and wait, don't say another word, It is time for the sales person to do their job.  All sales people are genetically incapable of not responding with everything in their tool chest and you will find out about everything that company can do to help you.  If you don't get an immediate response say thank you and move on, your time is too valuable to waste.

Infomation at PU will be second to none, get the most for your travel dollar and work the show for top value.

We will miss it this year!  Next year in Atlanta we will be back, since we live in GA.  Texas is just not a vacation type spot to bring family and you need a car to go anywhere.

As far as the last part quoted above, I think that is a great question to ask an exhibitor.  However, if the person you asked the question to does not know anything about your company, market, goals, etc. and then starts sales speaking - well I think that would be a disservice to you.  Ask me that question and my response would be something like, “in order to better answer that question, do you mind if I ask you a few questions first about your business?”

Give that man a gold star for the right answer to the Golden question.  Communication is vital for success in any endevour, The more your tech rep, notice I did not sales sales rep, knows about your business the more likely you are to succeed in your relationship.

Too many companies today think they can succeed with an FAQ, YouTube on line presence, BUT their is nothing like a knowledgeable person in your corner.
