Film Output Printers

My 3000 and computer that runs it are getting ready to retire and I'd love recommendations for something current that people are happy with. No CTS, not going to happen at this stage. I appreciate any and all suggestions. :-)
P.S. I currently run T-Rip but am not married to it.

We run the Epson T3270, we've had it getting onto 2 years, runs well. We've had the occasional problem, but tech support has helped each time. We print only the photo black channel, and yes, they are fine for burning screens. We bought this over the less expensive P800 at the time because it was considerably faster.

We have the P800 and I would not recommend it. Its very slow and there is no way (that we have found) to only print black ink. It uses all cartridges. We had a 1430 before. P800 is slower and uses a lot more ink. The only positive over the 1430 is being able to go 17" wide and use rolls instead of sheets.

I have yet to see an inkjet made just for us. I realize it's a limited market, but there's a need just the same.

They do market the P800 and T3270 in "Screen Print" editions, but I think that just includes the AccuRip Black Pearl software.

When we bought our T3270, we were already AccuRIP users, so we just bought the printer for around $1800.00, and upgraded the software we already had, I can't remember if there was modest price to that or not, but it's done what we want, solids, 4 color process and sim-process.

I have an old 1430 that I bought new and didn't use much. I just purchased the all black kit so we'll fire it up next week and keep our fingers crossed.

The 1430 is a great overall little film printer for the cost and will get you rolling with or without the all black option that's available. I would however recommend the all black option to save cost. You can also get a chip re-setter and reset the colors as needed but doing that will dry up all the color channels but it will still print great black film positives.

I use the 1430 and only use the black head and use a refillable cart for the black and buy very cheap color carts for the colors and I do mean cheap cause they print color like chit.  I've bought bottles of black ink from film direct and just refill the black cart, never even thought about going all black heads the film will only take so much ink anyway so one head is fine for me.

That is what I always did and re-set the other colors. Some say there is a savings in ink with the all black option and don't like to reset because it does dry up the other channels.

I'm still using an Epson 4000, a 7600 and a 9600. They all use the same carts. I run Cobra ink in the black cart that I use and windex in the other carts.
