How would you print this? 2-ply poly mesh shorts
« on: January 02, 2019, 11:11:28 AM »
We've got a small run of about 50 2-ply 100% poly mesh shorts to print. Simple art, white ink on either black or blue garments. Manual printing. Will most likely use One Stroke ELT-S ink. I'm assuming a hold down (we don't have one... yet) is either a must, or at least highly beneficial. And it seems obvious that flashing is not possible. Is it as simple as hit it once through a thick mesh? Do you have specific recommendations?

We do this so rarely I figured I'd ask the experts!

Hold down is a must.  You can flash them but not completely it just takes some patience and manual skills (Making your screen peel w/o lifting).  Or; save yourself the headache and money and buy screen print transfers for poly and call it a day.

If you have a sports clamp you can flash it. I preheat the shorts after in the clamp and then print flash print.

transfers

If you don't have a hold down (we use the livingston champ) then transfers are best. The material is going to slide around otherwise...

Thanks for that link, Frog. I may do something like that. I knew I had seen that here on the board somewhere. My search didn't find it, but I did find Mooseman's similar approach: http://www.theshirtboard.com/index.php/topic,4888.msg54250.html#msg54250
