Wilfex Epic Rio

I am getting ready to place a start up order and was wondering for those using the system. Of the 18 colors which are used more often and which do I need less stock on? I know its all relative to what we are running but your input will help. Also is the mixing white critical or can i use the epic quick or amazing with comparable results. Thanks in advance

we haven't making a ton of custom colors yet as we try to run out old stock but besides mixing white, the colors I seem to use the most for formulas are indigo blue and sunshine yellow.

At JNJ we used the "fully cure" Epic system. As always, some formulas may need adjustments however the system allows you to do so. Formulas and labels are easy to access. That said last I checked we had over 800 pantones on the shelf.....labels on all buckets and all are stocked numerically. Overkill for most but it is posssible

Definitely go with the mixing white.  Important probably not just for color but for printing WOW properly.

We use the Equalizers and get updated formulas if colors are from the older mixing base instead of the Amazing base we have always used since we got the system about 3 years ago.

Rick, I'm not sure on which colors are used how often but I can see if we have a sample set of the Rio and sell to you for close to the cost of shipping as we decided not to have it as 'backup' or anything, just sticking with the Equalizer system here.  PM me if interested and I will check on it.

been using it as our pantone mixing system for over a year now. we are very happy with it. but then again, 90% of our clients use pantones as reference over exact matches so getting things exactly perfect rarely needs to happen for us. the inks themselves have a little more gloss than wilflex's regular epic series, but its not too bad unless you have large areas of coverage. it for sure covers better than the regular epic series over an underbase. we rarely have to worry about a color shifting going over an underbase. 

definitely use a lot of the red, indigo, violet and yellow. we've started mixing our stock red, royal, purple and yellow with rio. even using the red straight out of the bucket most of the time. we use the system as its sold using the mixing white. seems to work great. someone emptied the 5 gallon of white without letting me know once (probably me...) and i substituted amazing white in a formula. it worked out just fine....

Rick:

Pick up a Rio Gallon Starter Kit.  Whoever your vendor is, they should give you a killer price on it (if they don't, then give me a call, I will hook you up)

That gives you gallons of the color and a 5-gallon of the mixing white. 

At that point, purchase what you go through the fastest in 5 gallon quantities.  Pick up the others as single gallons.

Typically you will go through Yellows, Red, one or two of the Blues and a TON of mixing white.

Slightly off topic, but anyone have input using the Rio inks with screened transfers?  Any inks that could turn out better transfers?

We are going to buy the Rio Gallon Kit today or tomorrow.  Who has the best price on it?  Looks like we can get it for $1000 from ryonet/screenprinting.com with free shipping.  GSG and Nazdar want to charge for shipping and even though the cost of the kit is less, with shipping it looks like it will end up costing more (and being slower).  Anyone have a better deal?

Naz dar is free shipping over 200.00 and usually your rep will really help with the pricing on the gallon kits. We went with the system and so far the results are excellent. great opacity and sheer with quick squeegie speed

We don't order much from them, but we had 600% growth last year and need to step up our game before the busy season this year...
