White pigment chunks

Anyone have a good way of filtering out white chunks from CCI pigments? The first go around using the CMS for discharge happened to be 2 white heavy colors (489 & 5503) and every other print clogged up the mesh.

you can strain it thru a piece of mesh as a short term fix.

Mixing White or D-White? We found this to be a huge problem (with both), we switched to using UBase as a Mixing White; doubling the weight to hit the colors correctly.  Straining the pigment bottles using pieces of mesh is crucial in my opinion.  All our bottles have them.

Haven’t had a problem with D-White, shame the pigment white is a pain. I would think it’s be strained and ready to go.

We love CCI and have been using them exclusively for many years. We go through about 5 or 10 gallons of their white a week. That said not their white pigment, we do not use it. We use their discharge white in place of it. Granted, we have our own pantone formulas for everything but the white discharge does work just fine in pantone matching. We could never get the white pigment to work. Quick tip - for a pantone with white pigment use the discharge white and cut in half or more. Less is usually more. But what works with our mesh, humidity, squeegees, press ops, presses, and dryers might not with yours. My two cents.

And there you go. B is spot on this post. I refer this as crusting. Depends on the dispensing system but warm water is your friend. Also know that excessive heat/cold is your enemy. I never use white DC/PC

If you only run WB occasionally you might try storing the bottles upside down in a container of water so the tips are submerged. I never have piment chunks or the need to strain the ink anymore, we turn the bottles right side up with a wet towel over tips on the weekends so pigments don't settle so bad.

we never use that white pigment, always a problem. We take what the formula calls for and double that weight using D White, matches every time, never have those white streaking issues.

Thanks for all the advice guys! I'll try out substituting with d-white next time a formula calls for white since I've never had a chunk issue with it.

Just to throw my 2 cents in on this. Same problem for a long time and I switched the green galaxy fusion white. Nothing else, just the white. That system is piss poor at best as far as color matching accuracy but the white pigment is a great substitute for the CCI white. We use all CCI pigments (both boost and standard) and use the fusion white with it adding whatever the formula calls for. Makes it easy because there’s no guess work, no doubling or cutting it in half and no straining. Colors are accurate and we don’t have to worry about streaking.
