Wilflex Epic White
« on: May 08, 2018, 10:03:18 AM »
Two out of the last three gallons we've received have been as hard as clay. Can't get a mixer blade in it, even tried to stab it with a knife.  The shipments have come from Miami.  Anyone else seeing the same thing?
Thx,
steve

Assumption based on working for an ink company:

The ink got hot in transit - either in transit to the manufacturer or in transit from the distributor.  Call Wilflex and give them the batch numbers and they can tell you if the retained production sample has any aging issues as well.
Been in the industry since 1996.  5+ years with QCM Inks.  Been a part of shops of all sizes and abilities both as a printer and as an Artist/separator.  I am now the Ink and Chemical Product Manager at Ryonet.

I’ve had the exact same problem with some Wilflex inks in the past, and I have to second the idea that it is simply due to excess heat in transit. Wilflex inks tend to have very low flash temps, which is awesome for us saving on our energy bill and ramping up press speeds. I think of it as a feature, not a liability, but it can backfire in the Deep South heat if shipping companies don’t handle the product with care. I’m sure the supplier will happily replace it.
