New CCI Dip Tanks

Ordering 2 new dip tanks for the shop and I asked Dan at CCI if they would consider building us a drain board that attaches to the units.

I wanted a station above the tank to let some chem flow off the screens and back into the tank, reduce drips transferring screens from tank to washout booth and create an additional station for the screens to keep that workflow moving.  Lots of synergistic benefits here for such a simple attachment.

Anyways, ask and you shall receive, here's the prototype!  This will be a ≈$180 option on their tanks.

Will report back after we get 'em in and actually use them.   Thoughts?

That's great that they accommodated. Probably will be a win-win-win - for you, them, and future customers. We have a DIY drain board over our tank, and it very obviously saves chemical & reduces mess.

Often referred to as Drag Out boards, platting shops use them so the tank chemistry drains back to tank. Here is the one I made from plywood maybe $1.99 in materials and 2 cocktails for inspiration.

Can someone tell me cost to fill a tank and how long the chemicals last until you have to refill and what chemical to use? We use spray bottles and they are a pain from time to time

Buy the dip tank no matter the cost!  Trust me!  You will never look back!  And you will be kicking yourself for not doing it sooner!

Depends on the chem you are tossing in there and if it gets mixed with water or not. 

We just bought a drum of CCI Envirosolve which is super cheap at about $16/gal and works best overall for our shop since we have multiple ink types.  It's already pretty loaded with water I believe so we'll use it straight up in the tank and recirc station for washing tooling.  I'm sure something like 701 or a more plastisol aggressive cleaner would cost quite a bit more but would also last a long time I would imagined.

dirkdiggler, you use an ink cleaner dip tank too?  Sound like you like it, what's yer setup?

We have 1 tank, we scrap ink off press and then they go in dip tank for 1 to 2 minutes.    Easiway Supra in the tank, then 2 squirts of 701, then hit with a pressure washer and done!  45 minutes to do a rack of 20.
