Thanks for all the great info.   I need to improve my system.
You all comment about ink and emulsion solids.
Are the chemicals we are using not a problem?
Possibly the amount of water we use dilutes them to acceptable levels.

I assume the allowable solids varies by region and sewer system. From discussions with our inspector it sounded like most of the chemicals we use are good to go down the drain and be treated by the city plant. He only seemed worried about pH and solids based on other print shops he had visited.

It really helps to be buddies with the guy. I get a totally different attitude by making it clear I want to learn and understand. I ask a ton of questions and let them do the talking.

We passed our test easily using a 5gal bucket as shown by Mooseman in the past.

Inspector told us he can’t remember a print shop passing on first inspection and asked for details on the 5gal setup. Super simple solids trap. We don’t do a lot of volume like other guys here.

If I was setting it up from scratch for more screens it’d be like Pierre’s. Two drums cut down, and then into a legit system like the Ryonet one.

I love the idea of pumping clean water back for stuff like rinsing screens or filling the dip tank too!
