I have a fairly large 3 level house that sits 1000' off the main road.

Gravel driveway with grass growing in the middle of it.

My back yard is fenced in for my dogs to run in and yesterday, nice weather with the basement (print shop) door open, the dogs went nuts. When I looked out to see what was the matter.
There was a late teen or 20 something guy walking down my drive right next to my parked t-shirt mobile and headed down the hill. Right beside my friggin house.

Took 3 times for him to acknowledge me yelling at him.

As with the others we catch trespassing, I asked, what are you doing and do you know whose place you are on.

He said walking? I'm just walking?WFT!

Then I asked if he had permission to be on my place or if he even knew he was trespassing and why he was walking down my driveway.

Keep in mind I have the hillbilly front yard with a couple cars and such in it.

He said he thought it was a road and did not know it was a private driveway?because it went all the way to the road?...WWWWTTTTFFFF?

2 years ago we had a guy "cut" our fence so his boys could ride their new 4 wheelers on us and not mess up his yard.WTF?

I started to kick his a$$ when he said he did not think it would hurt anything.

But with the way things are I just had my friend the Sheriff explain it to him.

I laughed when the Sheriff told me...that guy is as dumb as a bag of rocks.

How can these new age idiots make it? They do not care about anything but themselves and really do not know any better.

They have no clue of right and wrong and could care less about your stuff as long as it does not affect their life.

I thought the last generation was bad, but this one is much worst.

I look at the friend's kid when he raises his voice at his parents (8 years), I just can not wait for mine 4 year-old to do that. He will learn what the spanking means first time he does that.

I get what you mean.

I don't have kids...but if I did and the way the law can arrest you for spanking your kids now...I think I would have to spank the cop too.

It's a shame that people don't stay off others posted property, and its even a bigger shame that people are so uptight about people being on their land.  I hunt in North and South Dakota every year, and as long as it is not posted, you can walk all over anywhere with a gun...Even if it is posted it usually just takes a stop in at the local bar to get a phone number.  If the farmer sees you, your likely just to get a wave as he passes by on his tractor, or a friendly conversation with him. That would never happen in TX as your more likely to get shot than you are to get a friendly wave.  I wonder if when my kids are old enough to make the trip if every bit of land will be posted or pay-only.

I doubt Johnny sits on his porch with a shotgun challenging everyone who walks up his drive, but what happens when one of his goats bites a kid in the ass as they cut through his land, or the kid on the 4-wheeler breaks his neck when he runs into a tree Johnny carelessly left standing?

I guess the folks in North Dakota, SOuth Dakota, Montana, and Canada aren't as sue happy as some other states.  I have turned an ankle more than a few times hunting unposted property...never occured to me to so anyone over it.  Just saying, its bad that folks can't respect private property, and it sadder there is so much private property now days.

Where I lived for many years in CA, a woman was killed in a traffic collision.  She was intoxicated to the point of being almost 3 times the legal limit.  She ran a red light and got hit.  Her husband brought a lawsuit against the owners of the properties on all four corners of the intersection (as if it was THEIR fault his wife was drunk and driving).  Obviously there was legal cost for the judge and the clerks and all the filing of forms, etc.  At least HE had to pay those costs because the case was thrown out by the judge, but what gets me is the AUDACITY of people that do things like that.

How would you like someone stepping over you and your wife in the middle of your living room floor on a bear rug in front of a fireplace?

There is no difference.

Not to count the lawsuites if they get hurt.

Yes their not supposed to be there in the first place. So tell them that and in my case often.

I understand there are communities that don't allow fences....there will be residential areas with houses and what "looks" like one huge back yard for all to see/share.  Anyone live in such an area?  How does the concept of "tresspassing" work there?  (I'm just trying to get another viewpoint on it, so as to broaden my own).

Private property is private property. If it ain't public, it's private, whether or not there's a sign. Not having a sign isn't license to tear up someone else's land. Doesn't mean we all have to put fences up everywhere, either, but a little respect goes a long way. It might have been nicer if the kids taking a shortcut stopped by, introduced themselves, and asked Johnny if he had any objections to them passing through on their way home from school. And the adult who cut a fence so his brat could ride his 4-wheeler should've had his ass handed to him.

Are we talking land or are we talking a McRanch of 5-25 acres?  10 acres isn't land...  An yes pitman, if it's not posted it's not trespassing.  I don't recall saying that trespassing was okay.  If you read the first sentence of my post I said it's too bad people don't respect private property anymore.  As far as if it's the same as someone walking into your house....maybe if your in a neighborhood.... Not the same as big chunks of land.

I don't see how it would matter 1 acre, a living room or my 110 acres.

If you ain't supposed to be there, and YOU do not own it, get off it.
