Talk to me about lasers..

I’m interested in bringing in a system to create my own appliqué, so I assume that is achieved with a laser.
Is anyone on the board currently offering this to their clients? I’d love some insight!

I used a Universal Laser a whole lot in a previous job, they are a fabulous tool, they run as a printer right out of Corel Draw and are very easy to use with any vector graphics, very short learning curve. Epilogue are another good brand. I'll be picking up a used Universal next year with any luck as we already offer engraving and would really like to add it to our embroidery arsenal.

Long time laser user here. Bought our first Epilog in 1994 if my memory serves me correctly and still using Epilogs. We have lasered just about anything we could fit in it from Emu eggs to footballs. I also offer free tattoo removal but so far no takers. Applique is a piece of cake as long as you get all your settings right so take a little time to learn your machine. We use Corel for drawing and Embird for digitizing and those 2 programs play very well together. Have fun if you decide on going that direction but be carefull when lasering not to catch things on fire.

Trotec is another laser brand that is very good. Epilog and Universal are US based though, very good as well but I believe Trotec is slightly faster.

I have an Asian machine, G Weike.
Paid it off in about two weeks, it has been a workhorse too.
About 1/10 the cost of the us machines, is worth it... If you can deal with archaic software. I just use illustrator and export to it, and it works well.

Awesome, thanks everyone.
With these lasers could I expect, out of one machine, to cut appliqué one day and then etch a Yeti cup the next day? Or would that be a two separate machines?
