WM Plastic is not P free, but all of the Phthalates are below needed maximum level. The ink doe not have to be P free, it needs to be Phthalate  compliant.
That is my understanding. It said that the ink passed on all tests.
Where is Xenon certificate? I'm still waiting.

The way I read this is that the chemist knows damn well what they put into the ink, hence Sonny's insistence from the get-go that the ink is compliant. However, it apparently has never been submitted to a laboratory for verification needed for the certification. A little late, a little unprofessional, and seemingly indicative of a smallish operation in my mind. Small isn't necessarily bad, but business needs to be taken care of.
I am less willing to pounce since I remember that one of the last times I spoke with Union's Richard Labov before his passing was the confusion and difficulty that even manufacturers faced with this confusing and often overwhelming legislation. Much worse than us, but, hey, it's part of the game, and they have to comply to play.

On the other hand, since hardly anyone here admittedly bothers with the also-required tracking labels, I'm a little surprised at the degree of interest in this facet of the law, and have to assume it's limited to a small group.

Should you be sending samples to the company that will issue you a certificate instead of your chemist working on it?

Does anybody else have ant other certificates? People that use Ruthland, Union, QCM, One Stroke.........................?
Or no one cares what they put on the shirts and do not have any certificates for the ink they use?

honestly dennis, i'm just not that concerned about it..why is the certificate necessary? I'm sure I am missing something here.

I called tony chapman from rutland and he is going to respond here on their behalf. they do have compliance certificates. most people that print for major retailers are required to have them. also anyone printing for childrens wear mfg. companys..

If you print youth garments, you must be able to prove (in lieu of testing) that the inks you used are free of lead for 12 and under, and Pthalate compliant for kids under 4, but even this understanding varies greatly because of the exact wording in the law.
Bottom line, is if you do kids things, cover your ass!

Rutland Plastics updates Compliance statements once a year for each of our ink brands including Rutland, Union, and QCM brands of ink. The Compliance statement basically states that we do manufacture in compliance with the CPSIA regulations and all other RSL's given us by the major brands we sell to. It also identifies all the product series we manufacture that meet the restrictions. We send the Compliance statement to our customers upon request. We will also share the 3rd part analytical data for a given ink series to assist the customer who would need to meet the regulations issued by CPSIA for Childrens garments and the restricted chemicals of the major garment brands and retailers.
