Red Chilli D not turning on?
« on: August 22, 2017, 05:13:26 PM »
We have our Red Chilli D, plugged into one of our print heads, and all of a sudden, we are no longer getting the flash to cycle on. Any tips on what could be happening? The sensor is damaged on this unit, so we have to run it through the press.

You must tell it to turn on from the control panel. It does not automatically know to tur it on

I know that, but even when we signal for it to turn on, or put it into the print run sequence, it's still not activating.

I tried calling technical support on Monday, but haven't heard back yet. was going to call again in the morning.

We had a loose signal cable connection on one of our flash units, it was hard to identify because it worked most of the time but when the cord was wiggled sometimes it would fail.  I fixed that connector and it's been great ever since - I would look into the cable connections and cable itself even.

I just had this happen. Is your control panel lighting up, just that your bulbs aren't turning on? If so, disconnect it all, open the back and the top lid, I bet your blower is caked with crap and not blowing, and overheating the unit which will prevent the bulbs from firing on. If you aren't putting a filter over the the steel screen you are just sucking in crap. We just had this happen to weeks ago, had to replace the blower. I blew compressed air through the squirrel cage, you wouldn't believe the amount of crap that shot out of there. This is now a monthly thing for us to open them up and clean them out. If that blower isn't blowing, the whole unit over heats and the bulbs won't come on. Service overnighted me a new blower, couple mins to swap it out and back to work. You can pick up vent filters from lowes/homedepot, takes two next to each other to fully cover the intake doesn't effect air flow but grabs all the crap out of the air. Hopefully this is all it is for you. lesson learned. We cover the intake of our Sprint with 230 screen mesh to filter small stuff, otherwise, that steel filter screen doesn't filter anything until it is already gunked up itself. Not going to put myself through something like this on that big mamajama. Mike Sonera was great at confirming my trouble shooting on the chili issue.

Oh one other thing. When I opened it up, carefully plugged the power back in, turned it on. I could tell there was no airflow. That blower should actually push a nice flow across the top of the vent that has all the holes in it. Once I blue all the crap out of it, it spun a little, but could tell the blower was shot, got the new one in.

I had the exact same problem, coming back from holidays, no more communication between the press and the flash.

I tested all cable, everything was good. I didn't found where the issue come from.

I end up installing a mechanical sensor  ;D
