I figured this was as good a place as any to ask this.

Just put an Epson 1400 (never unboxed for over 8 years) into service and it's working fine.

Those of you running a 1400 and "not" using any cart system, what can you tell me about future problems using "compatible" inks. 

Is the Epson going to squawk when I put in non-Epson inks?
