Chrome using just two screens?

I'm trying to work a way to get a chrome effect (like a car emblem) using the least amount of screens possible without substantially affecting the quality. Going on dark shirts red and black. Like to hear some of your thoughts. Outside the box or traditional. I'm really want to play mad scientist with this one. Thanks.

You need to create the design with the shirt color in mind.  Shirt color will ALWAYS influence separation method to a greater or lesser extent.

Post it up and we will tell you how few colors we would use to make it look Great/Good/Maybe passable

From my years at Andy's, where they created and worked with the best car art in the biz, I learned that the most effective effect of chrome was achieved with reflections of grass or sky.
Two screens certainly adds a challenge.

Hey guys sorry. I should have been more specific. Take the Toyota symbol for example. Completely monochrome on say a red shirt. Underbase can be used as a double hit option. Thanks

Silver and white   or black and white  best would be 3 screens black, white and silver

You can also do

Base white
Tonal Black 3-6% black pigment into base or cmyk black.  "Something that prints light/grey" over another color but looks black on the shirt.
White highlite - Add 15-30% base of choice to your white so it prints more translucent.  This will blend better with the black.

Or skip the highlite white completely if you need.

this, we just would not base it down. Highlight would almost be a must to get finer transitions. Our black is translucent already as it is a part of sim process system.
Two hits of ubase and black on top will make the image choppy where you start the black ink.

you are right, there are two shades of gray, 'just not sure that would actually be important if they are trying to reduce the color count. . .

I think Pierre is right, you wouldn't want to double hit the base for dark shirts.

If I were trying to get the range with the fewest screens, I'd do an underbase, black (halftoned for cool grey, see Colin's excellent hints on that), a warm light brown/grey, and a highlight white.

So........as mentioned a few times already, 2 screens not a good option. Mediocre results at best.

I think you could get a acceptable result using Liquid silver and black but its all in the seps

Right up front I'd advise against using just 2 colors, if you want it to look "right". Like Darryl, White, Gray, Black. If unrestricted, another gray and a highlight white.
