Setting up a flash on an older gauntlet revolver.
« on: July 25, 2017, 05:42:09 PM »
I am setting up a 6 color 8 station gauntlet revolver. The flash when I bought it was on station 3.

Should I leave it on station 3 or put it on station 2?

I have it on head 3 on an 8/10, because I sometimes print black/darkest, then UB, then flash. But on a 6/8, I'd use head 2, because I'd expect to get most mileage out of a 1-Flash-Rest-(4)-(5)-6 combination. I think that would result in you revolving less often than if you put the flash in head 3.
(I'm not using a Gauntlet, but I doubt press type would affect this decision.)
Nice guys laugh last.

Leaving the flash in head#3 would allow you to have a lint screen in head#1 and the UB screen in head#2.
But, that would really limit the type of jobs you take.

We run an old gauntlet 6/8. I have mine on head. There are many times I wish it were on head 3 some could lay down another color first, but its a pain in the you know what to switch it so we usually just make it work on head 2. I know as soon as I move it to #3 i'm going to have to move it back for a 5 color, so we just keep it on #2. Not a whole ton of wiggle room with only 6 heads. Would love a lint screen tho.

Thanks again for the response. I think I will leave it where it is set up for now on color 3 and hopefully grow to a bigger press
