5 color with an UB or process?

If not CMYK then what print order? I'm thinking ub, blue, green, purple, yellow, red?

If you're set up for it DC 55 dpi blends will rock this with seamless blends. Dependant on blank of course

hadn't occurred to us before you brought it up - will try this. printing on black 3001. we've done a bit of matsui discharge in the past. worth a try.

question 1 - when doing a discharge fade like this - print one color solid and print the other color halftone on top (like you would plastisol)? OR fade them in to one another, both fading?

question 2 - why would doing 5 discharge inks (in this case) make more sense than printing 1 discharge plate (UB) and 5 WB inks on top (this makes sense to my plastisol mind - add a screen but lose the discharge complexity)?

that makes sense. if we can't get to good color with our matsui discharge, we'll fall back to this.

we thought about discharge, but didn't in the end go that route - the purple was out of gamut for the basic matsui colors we have on hand, and we know that matsui's red isn't fantastic (and haven't yet learned how to substitute sericol colors)

went with what we knew - plastisol.

blue again *flash*

yellow red

sucked going around three times, but sometimes that's life. The blue just didn't have enough weight on it's own to make a good fade without being printed 2X which was annoying.

would love to try this with virus' WOW line now, keep the plasisol UB, one flash, once around. assuming we could hit colors. that crap is magic.

where the green and purple underlie the blue halftone fade, printing wow all three colors, the blue died, didn't optically cover the green and purple.
it needed to be blue printing after flashing the green and purple, the wow blue before the flash just made it look a little bit sharper, so why not.
