Until now, when an embroiderer had to sew on oversized garments like hockey jerseys, it might require multiple hoopings to get the job done. Tajima has now eliminated that problem with its latest innovation—The Tajima TWMX-C1501, otherwise known as the Sumo.
The Sumo uses a 23-inch by 23-inch hoop that makes it possible to not only sew on oversized jackets, jerseys and fleece with giant designs or appliqué, but it also opens the door to home decorations such as tablecloths, table runners, curtains, bedspreads and more. Large tote bags and luggage, banners, blankets, and wall hangings are just a few of the many product categories that this machine is designed to accommodate. Embroiderers will find they can do large pieces quickly and efficiently allowing them to solicit work that previously would have been a production nightmare.
This heavy-duty arm-style embroidery machine has all the modern features of the current M Series machines with the same hoops and cap frame system. Although the arm configuration is similar to Tajima’s popular Neo machine, if you were to compare the two, the Neo measures 17 inches from needle to arm while the Sumo is 29 inches. The Sumo is LAN enabled allowing for plug-and-play connectivity and bar code ready, which means it can send designs to the machine in an instant.
It comes with a heavy-duty stand built to withstand more weight and offer greater stability, which may be needed with larger substrates. It also has a table to allow for use with a border frame sash, which makes it practical to do products such as banners, tableclotablecloths, bedspreads, etc.
The Sumo also will have an option to go to an even larger border frame sash and extension table similar to what is offered on Neo II and Neo Plus with a deeper embroidery area.
