How would you print this then?

Would it be advisable to put the black text on a separate screen away from the halftones? Goes on white tees.

I usually put the text on a separate screen unless, the halftone screen would work on a 225, that way I can get by with one stroke to get opake lettering.  If I had to put the halftones on a 280, then definitely a separate screen to avoid blowing out my image trying to get opake lettering.

It's not a job if you love doing it.

An alternative is to add percentages of other colors in the separations. With the process black printing solid that should leave you 140-160%, whatever the total ink limit is for the print. For example, in a 4 color process, black text at 100% and the cyan magenta yellow set to print at 45- 50% behind the black.

We typically do text, flash then the other colors.

I might do this. But I'd also consider skipping the flash, and using the "heavy black" text screen to beef up the most saturated areas of the photo image, too.
Nice guys laugh last.
