Accurip or Wasatch

I only have experience with wasatch. We are buying an epson 24" film printer as a back-up to the CTS. Will both work equally?

As one who has AccuRip,  I would suggest going with Wasatch.  I don't here negative things about Wasatch and support is just outright horrible with AccuRip. Just my own experience.

Also, for the I-Image, I am 100% positive that the large majority of any down time will be due to a lack of consistent and accurate maintenance. By far and large, most all issues stem from this. And remember, "you have a manual".  Most toss it under a shelf to collect dust. The maintenance steps are in there. Take care of that baby and it will take care of you. True story.

The other part of the times would have to be old, worn out or just a bad part.  Things go bad and ware out ( but not that often), as well as can be shipped from the supplier to M&R with  one or three bad parts in the bunch. Just like anything else I guess.

Some people swear AccuRip has GREAT customer support, but I am agreeing with Dan here - unless it is super obvious, they almost always assume the error has nothing to do with their product (which is only SOMETIMES the case).

I have only used AccuRip, once we get it going for each computer/OS/printer/output art program, it's totally fine, but changing any one of those 4 variable WILL lead to some frustrations.
When working, the control variables (outside of the RIP work itself) we enjoy are:
control over printing from any number/combination of ink sources (we print from ONE)
control over linerization (sp?)
dot control (only changed if the INK brand is changed)
resolution (allows "acceptable and fast" printing as well as "slow and fantastic" printing)

Having never had another RIP i don't know if that is winning or losing. It is a pain to get setup, but when the combo is working, it's pretty much set it and forget it.

Thanks for the advice. I will make sure to get it on a regular maintenance schedule. We also have to generate films for large prints, mostly without halftones.
