Flash is on, but no heat.

Starting to get to my breaking point with Workhorse right now.

This is my second Super Seca flash unit that is having an issue now. The last one had a defective switch after about 3 weeks of use. No big deal they sent me a new one and I sent the old one back. This one has been working for about 4-5 months now and when I went to turn it on this morning, the light went on, then I went to set a job up a few minutes later, and the thing is ice cold. Getting tech support for these things hasn't been great or speedy, so I'm still waiting on them to get back to me. At this point, I'd like a refund. I had a 5 color job setup today that I planned on shipping out before days end, well, that's shot now.

Out of desperation I went and bought a cheap 16x16 no name flash from a local supply place and to my luck, there was flash floods all around their warehouse and I couldn't get there to pick it up lol. Just not my day I guess.

Anyone have an idea how to trouble shoot a standard IR flash? It doesn't look like a lot of moving parts so i don't know what can be wrong.

if it's 3 phase, make sure all of them are up. If one is down, the equipment can power up, but parts of it would not work.

As far as troubleshooting, you'd need to take it apart and pick some voltages with a meter. If you are comfortable doing that I can try to walk you through it over the phone.

Yes, we've won our share of awards, and yes, I've tested stuff and read the scientific papers, but ultimately take everything I say with more than just a grain of salt! So if you are looking for trouble, just do as I say or even better, do something I said years ago!

Thanks Pierre. I'm fairly certain our electrician hooked all our stuff up single phase because the 3 phase would of been pricy to get hooked up the correct way. I know this floor does have 3 phase, but nothing is running on it to my knowledge.

in that case it is either a connection to the heating element or the control circuit to it. If it's something simple, it might not be too hard to figure out and you might be able to by pass the control and wire it so it's on all the time. This is potentially a very bad idea as the flash could overheat, but if my life depended on it. . .
