Equipment upgrade
« on: April 21, 2017, 10:43:58 AM »
What is the one piece of equipment in your shop if you did an upgrade would make your shop more efficient, mine right now would be a bigger dryer in a tiny space.
Life is like Kool-Aid, gotta add sugar/hardwork to make it sweet!!

HA! I've got a laundry list for that question, not just one thing. But #1 is move from manual to auto. After that, upgrade the dryer.
(And then, work on our customer & order management workflow... which isn't equipment, but would help a lot.)
Nice guys laugh last.

CTS. (taping to home made FPU, the time and inaccuracy of that isn't yet outweighing the pound of flesh cost)
roller frames.
better workflow/paperwork processes. i suppose that ain't equip unless the answer is shop software out of the box (and that I doubt).
spray gun applicators (tex tec and reclaim chems).
press with more (than the current 8) heads.

in a fantasy world, one of them automated in mixing systems.

answering this is like dreaming about what you'd do with your powerball winnings.

I'll stick with s-mesh from Spot Color before switching to rollers...much cheaper and damn similar results.  Not to mention your arms will thank you.

ours would just be more staff.  I just hate hiring because usually right after that comes the firing. ;)

Bigger dryer would help the production along, but our numbers per hour aren't terrible for our size. I think a solid pre-reg setup would help a ton. I also need to get a dip tank, that would be a huge time saver.

A press with more color capability.  I'm saying that because I'm getting more and more request for jobs that a 12 color would really be nice to have but also it would allow us to have a few more jobs set up at the same time in most cases.
It's not a job if you love doing it.

;D there would be a static image of me with a whisp sound followed by screeching tires in the park lot...
...keep doing what you're doing, you'll only get what you've got...
