Logo "sinks" into garment
« on: April 17, 2017, 10:35:27 AM »
Hi,

as you can see the logo "sinks" into the garment:

It's not flat but has those little holes...

Did i use too much pressure? Or does it depend on the garment?

Another logo from the same manufacturer doesn't has the holes:

Printed with 180°C / 10 seconds...

Thanks!

First off, welcome to TSB.
Is that a vinyl or plastisol transfer?

As for pressure, yes, that would "telegraph" more of the fabric's texture as could really any of the "big three"
Pressure
Temperature
Time

So, yes, while pressure needs may change from garment thickness to garment thickness, some fabrics also are inherently smoother and will obviously produce a smoother print.
One doesn't want to overcompensate with too little pressure and risk good adhesion.
Besides, many actually prefer the look of the fabric's texture coming through a bit.
That rug really tied the room together, did it not?

It's hard for me to really tell from those photos, but I looks like the bottom one is vinyl.  You'll never beat vinyl for smoothness.

the upper one looks like there was too little pressure on the highlight and it didn't cover well.

That's my take, I could be wrong.

It could also be coarse adhesive crystals.

Hi again,

both are plastisol (hot peel) transfers but not from the same production, maybe they've changed something in their "mix".

So what to do next? Testing... with more pressure? Longer?
