Calling a business out on FB
« on: March 22, 2017, 03:10:32 PM »
I've got a customer that got away with a few hundred worth of merch, went through the process and just got back from filing a judgement with the county. That's where it'll sit until god knows when. The bull$hit I went through with this guy irks me more than the money. I find it back practice as a business owner to slam anyone on my business page, but I really want to. Guess I'm just venting here.

I wouldn't make a huge stink, but a subtle "I haven't forgotten about you, ass" nudge would be what i'd do.

Gotta be delicate with it...it's pretty annoying of course.

We had a guy who was incredibly upset when we were selling him a shirt for something like $10 until we found out it was a 5xl and had to up the price.  He posts once a year to never do business with our company on Facebook.

Over the years, I've seen this happen publicly and (seems more so on facebook). Mostly what I've experienced are printers, artist, shop owners and printers, suppliers etc. dealing with others (in the business) calling someone out on something, People "in the business" do like to be aware of risky people and lets face it, trash does seem to draw a crowd. Someone always wants to put their "opinion" or comment in the ring...but it also comes with some of these people "in the business" also pointing out that it never seems to leave you, the accuser...unscaithed either.  It somehow tarnishes you a bit as well. Don't look that great to be involved in any kind of public humiliation tactic, name calling, trash talking or showing someones dirty or "poor side".  Like a good fist fight, It makes us feel better for a short time when we are on the winning side... but in reality, only for a short time and you might end up beating yourself up for doing it later.

It's happened to me once or twice. There are always two sides to a story (good or bad, true or not) that 2nd side of the story does have an impact (positive or negative). The reality is, the truth can often get overshadowed by ones actions or rather "re-actions".

I read somewhere about the 10 top traits of some of the most successful people in the world.  One that ranked very high if not top, was the fact that these people didn't always speak out, or feel the need to be right, or give their opinion (on everything). Very reserved when it comes to providing content of any kind. Only speak out, "when it really means something of true value".

I've done it. I posted to their facebook page -that they update daily with "today's specials"... I was tasteful, I said something along the lines of "Hey do you want to clear up this invoice from 5 months ago over the phone or do you want me to swing by for a check?" they were so embarrassed, they contacted me within minutes and I had my money. I think I spoke about it on here actually...maybe in the shout box? can't remember.. It can be done, just don't be a prick....

After 3 or 4 weeks of you doing that, I bet you get some coin. They sure don't want their customers seeing that...
...keep doing what you're doing, you'll only get what you've got...

I'm reminded of a printer who owes me $70.00 for the last 6 months now (among a few others). He contacted me once to tell me he's going thru hard times.  I've just decided now, I'm going to tell him he owes nothing. What a burden it is to owe someone when you are scraping by yourself.
